Russell is a sound designer, composer, and audio engineer. Recent sound design and compositional work includes; The Children’s Bach (Chamber Made); Shadow Passion (Anthony Crowley/Chapel off Chapel) Sleeping Beauty (Malthouse Theatre Company), Exit the King (Malthouse Theatre Company/Company B Belvoir), It Just Stopped (Malthouse Theatre Company/Company B Belvoir), Love (Malthouse Theatre/HotHouse Theatre Company); The Frail Man, Ruby Moon, Stolen –Touring Production 2002-2005 (Playbox Theatre Company); Fully Committed (McLaren House); Virgins: A Musical Threesome (Echelon Productions); Slow Love (Chamber Made Opera). Other recent projects include his Sound Design and Composition for the City of Melbourne ‘Laneway Project’ commission, Rosie’s Secret and the radio documentary A Packet of Seeds for the BBC London. His won the 2007 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Sound Design/Composition for his work on Exit the King, the 2002 Green Room Award for Best Sound Design for Slow Love and received a Green Room Award nomination for his Sound Design/Composition for The Frail Man. Russell currently is a freelance sound designer & composer, audio system designer & engineer and theatre technician. He is the principal of TotalTech Productions and Head of Audio at the CUB Malthouse. He is also the producer, electronic foley artist and keyboard player with atmos/electronic rock band Cinematic.
